The Air Max 95 x Comme des Garçons 'Black' is one of the most refined and understated AM95 collaborations ever produced — a full tonal black construction co-designed with Rei Kawakubo's iconic Comme des Garçons label, stripping the classic AM95 silhouette of all colour and reducing it to its purest structural form. The upper follows the OG AM95 construction with premium material upgrades throughout: a matte black suede mudguard and toe box, black engineered mesh at the quarter panel and side wall, and the signature AM95 gradient spine overlays rendered entirely in tonal black suede — each panel transition visible only through subtle texture and sheen differences in direct light. The heel counter features the iconic AM95 hard plastic stabiliser unit in silver/light grey — the only non-black element on the upper — with 'AIR' text debossed in black. The tongue is black ribbed fabric with a tonal black embroidered oval 'airmax' badge — barely visible against the black ground, a deliberate CDG design choice. Reflective grey lace loops and reflective grey lace dubrae details add a subtle technical accent visible only under direct light. The midsole is black, and the translucent dark/black-tinted Air units at both the heel and forefoot sit flush against the black midsole. The full-length black rubber outsole features the classic AM95 square-block waffle tread pattern with a central translucent window revealing a black-and-white striped insole graphic beneath. Black rope laces complete the look.
